Manager

Dispatch Manager & Technical Project Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: President / Ownership Team

 

This is a hybrid leadership role combining:

  1. Dispatch Manager – Responsible for the day-to-day planning, execution, and performance of freight operations.

  2. Technical Project Manager – Responsible for implementing systems, automations, and process improvements to increase efficiency, visibility, and scalability.

 

This role is ideal for someone who understands transportation operations and enjoys building better systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch Management

  • Lead and support the dispatch team in planning and executing cross-border shipments.

  • Optimize truck utilization, routing, and scheduling.

  • Ensure on-time pickup and delivery performance.

  • Manage communication with drivers, carriers, customers, and brokers.

  • Resolve service issues quickly and professionally.

  • Monitor KPIs including on-time performance, margin, and equipment utilization.

  • Support pricing decisions and load acceptance.

 

Technical Project Management

  • Lead implementation and enhancement of Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

  • Improve document workflows for customs paperwork, PODs, and invoicing.

  • Design and implement automation using tools such as Power Automate, AI, OCR, and integrations.

  • Create dashboards and operational reporting.

  • Manage technology vendors and software implementations.

  • Document processes and train users.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, and customer visibility.

 

Process Improvement

  • Standardize dispatch workflows.

  • Develop SOPs and best practices.

  • Reduce manual tasks and operational bottlenecks.

  • Improve compliance and audit readiness.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in transportation dispatch, logistics operations, or fleet management.

  • 2+ years of experience leading technical or process improvement projects.

  • Strong understanding of Canada–U.S. cross-border freight.

  • Experience with TMS platforms.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and leadership ability.

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and reporting tools.

 

Preferred

  • Experience with PCS TMS, McLeod, Trimble, or similar systems.

  • Familiarity with customs documentation and border compliance.

  • Experience with automation tools (Power Automate, Zapier, OCR, AI).

  • PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or related certification.

Compensation

Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus performance-based incentives.

Expected Range: CAD $50,000–$65,000+ depending on experience and technical capabilities.
